Warm spring outfit in style of Dior & early 1960s with A-line dress & felt lampshade hat with felted flowers

I've had the idea for this hat for a long time. I wanted it to be big and deep, in the shape of a lamp shade, but at the same time, to be decorated with flowers. However, I could not decide on the color and type of flowers. In the end, considering that I have a lot of blue clothes in my wardrobe, but no blue felt hat, and also impressed by the color combination of the Thai silk scarf (I wear it in this look), I settled on the royal blue shade of the hat and the sky blue shade of the flowers.

 



The Polish hat maker Sylwia Leśniewska (which I have already mentioned in "Warm spring outfit in style of early “New Look” with felt saucer hat with felted flowers") managed to bring my idea to life. 



The hat turned out to be a true work of art, which, probably, Christian Dior himself would have liked.






Yeah, minimality is not about me. I have a weakness for everything bright, vintage, floral and hat-est! Therefore, I love the hats, the most hat-est, the most floral, the brightest and the most vintage! Or those that look like vintage and are not inferior to them in the quality of execution.




I decided to match this wonderful hat with an equally wonderful vintage dress by “Peggy Lane” in about the same shade. I also associate this A-line dress with Dior, because it is close to his 1955 collection, although the length is already more consistent with 1962-1964.





This outfit is suitable for cool autumn, warm winter and warm spring. I wore it at the end of February. However, paired with a warm jacket, it can also be worn in cooler times, because the hat allows this.

  • Real vintage dark blue leather shoulder bag by “Montbui difusion”, made in Spain, about 1970s
  • Dark blue leather gloves with leather ribbon decor, about 2010s
  • Beige nylon tights, about 1990s
  • Black leather slip on shoes with mid-high heels, 2010s-2020s, made in Spain




I think that I have turned out to be a homage to Dior and his collection of 1955, coupled with the trends of 1962-1964, and my new big flower hat is just in the spirit of the 1960s too!

This vintage dress is very beautiful.  I like the print of old and vintage fabrics.  Prints of recent years leaves a lot to be desired. They are faded, blurred and dotted in structure, in a word, "digital" printing.  Unfortunately, digital printing has completely destroyed any alternative and if you look at modern blouses, dresses, bags and other things, you will see that this is digital printing and that this print is very different even from the one that was back in the beginning of this century. Perhaps for someone it is the pearl of creation, but not for me. Before, the print was different - clear and bright, in my opinion, perfection itself. When I bought this dress in a vintage store, I was attracted by its bright fabric and beautiful cut.  Later at home I found out that it was also silk! Warm spring outfit in style of early "New Look" with felt saucer hat with felted flowers

This outfit is suitable for cool, but not cold autumn, warm winter and warm spring. After receiving this wonderful hat from the Polish hat maker Sylwia Leśniewska from Wroclaw, I almost immediately arranged this photo session. Although it was December, it was warm during the day, but in the late afternoon, an icy wind blew from the mountains and, as always, my head froze. Unfortunately, my head is very sensitive to the wind, and all my favorite hats, those that are the most beautiful, do not cover ears that are very sensitive to cold. But in any case, the replica hat turned out to be very beautiful and, unlike the original, which was for summer, it can still be worn in the cooler season. Warm spring outfit in style of early 1960s with real vintage jacket by “Amaryllis”

Since the weather in Spain has once again changed (I've lost its count!) between the extremes, from heat and sun to cold, rain and wind, I continue to share with you my looks from previous photo shoots. This outfit will be very good for a warm, but not very hot and not very cold spring. Or for a cool autumn. Or a warm winter. But when I posed for these photos, it was the end of March, it was cold and overcast. So the outfit was not exactly weather-appropriate, but more because of the hat, not other parts of dress. Fearing the rain, I took a vintage umbrella with me, which I think added a twist to the look. I like the contrast of narrow bottom and loose top. This jacket is just amazing.  I tried to find out something about the brand that produced it, but, unfortunately, there is little information in Internet.
