Hot summer outfit in style of 1965-1966s with real vintage shift dress

Unfortunately, most vintage clothes not only missed or lost branded labels, but it was not even known who were the people sewed them.

This because many of them were really good craftsmen and deserve to be known but unfortunately life took a different course.

Every time I find or wear another unnamed masterpiece, I admire and thank these unknown people.

What good master-hands they were! In truth, they had skillful fingers.

After all, creators are not only painters, sculptors, poets and writers, but also tailors and hatters (milliners). So it is with this dress on the presented photos.

This is a real vintage item from the mid 1960s, circa 1965-1966 to be exact, in silk with the classic abstract print you can see on some men's ties.

With a belt, the dress becomes something like a tunic.

It was ideal to combine the dress with a Bretonne hat, especially since this style of hat was just popular in those days.

Bretonne hats have been worn by both British model Jean Shrimpton and British royalty such as Princess Margaret.

So I decided to join them. By the way, this hat can be worn both as a Bretonne hat, if the brim is raised, and as a wide brim with the brim lowered, which is very convenient.

I tied a vintage silk ribbon on it, which can also be worn as a belt for dress or décor for hat.

This silk handbag is one of my favorites, bought from a Polish secondhand store for only one zloty (which is about 25 cents in the old days and 21 cents today).

In the handbag there is something barely perceptible from the refined Orientalism of the 18th and 20th centuries.

I am wearing:

  • Real vintage green/light brown with red classic abstract print pure silk upper knee sleeveless shift dress, about mid 1960s
  • (not seen) Cream pure silk slip dress by “Hoss Intropia”, 2010s-2020s
  • Beige cellulose straw Bretonne hat, about 2000s-2010s
  • Real vintage red with burgundy and yellow classic abstract print pure silk ribbon (belt for dress or décor for hat, here is shown as décor for hat), about 1950s-1960s
  • Gold toned metal and red plastic flower shaped clip-on earrings, about 2010s-2020s
  • Real vintage light brown leather thin belt, about 1970s-1980s
  • Beige and olive with green and red floral embroidery wild silk handbag with wood handle, about 1990-2000s
  • Red leather loafers with flat white sole, made in Spain, about 2020s

I got an outfit in the style of 1965-1966, a little in the style of "Swinging London" and Jean Shrimpton or "The Shrimp" as she was called.

Of course, then they liked to wear more elegant shoes, but alas! In Spain, such shoes are impractical, due to the lack of normal asphalt. So loafers are the best shoes here.
