Hot summer outfit in style of 1933-1934s with real vintage ecru silk hat

How wonderful are the light and especially all shades of cream-colored hats! But, unfortunately, most of them, if they are vintage, they reach our days, soiled and stained.

However, that is not the case with this 1930s one, made of soft and tender but dense ecru silk. The history of my acquisition of this hat is curious.

When I first visited Spain some years ago, this hat was already on sale in the local vintage shop. Because I was going through a life crisis, I had a different style and therefore I did not buy it.

Later, when I settled in this small town, I visited this vintage shop for several years and the hat had still been sold there. But I was not yet ready to return to the classic feminine style.

But one day the time has come and my style and desire to collect real and very vintage items have finally required me to start collecting such hats also.

The year before last, in my small town, for some reason, there were almost no vintage hats on sale. So I decided to pay attention to this one.

Initially, I was embarrassed by the long, long veil sewn to it, which, by the way, was added much later. Looks like someone used this vintage item for a wedding, probably in the 1980s.

But after imagining how the hat would look without a veil, I realized that this is a true treasure.

Moreover, the pollution of its light surface was minimal, and, probably, from dust, during the years of waiting for me in this vintage store.

So I would say that given its age and color, hat was in the perfect condition. It is sewn neatly, there is even a lining inside. And hat's style and the way it is sewn allows it to be dated to the 1930s.

My friend photographer and I put the hat in order. The veil was removed, the silk was cleaned and ironed a little to bring the hat back into shape.

That is a story.

In general, many have a strange attitude towards cream shades. For some reason, some have driven it into their heads that they are only suitable for a wedding.

And others generally believe that in the modern world it is worth dressing beautifully and unusually only for a wedding, which usually even comes to the point of absurdity. I had acquaintances who specifically got married to put on a beautiful dress, and then divorced just a month later!

I think that dressing beautifully and unusually, if there is a need for it, is possible and necessary every day, which I do with joy!

This time I decided to combine this hat with an amazingly beautiful silk blouse with flapper bathing beauties on the beach and sea print and a midi skirt.

Wanting to create harmony with the print on the blouse, in some photos I deliberately pose without a hat, but with an umbrella (like flapper bathing beauties on blouse).

Therefore, this outfit turned out to be double, because it is good with and without a hat, and with and without an umbrella.

Also, I'll open a small secret: on some photos, I took off and then forgot to put on clip-on earrings! But with and without them, it also turned out well.

I am wearing:

  • Real vintage red with ecru stripes pure silk blouse with puffy above elbow sleeves with flapper bathing beauties on the beach and sea print, about mid 1970s-1980s
  • Real vintage cream with white print viscose midi straight skirt by “Peter Sauer”, made in Germany, about 1970s
  • (not seen) Cream pure silk slip dress by “Hoss Intropia”, 2010s-2020s
  • (on some photos) Real vintage ecru pure silk hat with matching ribbon decor, about 1930s
  • (on some photos) Red epoxy resin and mother of pearl round drop clip-on earrings, made in Serbia, about 2000s-2010s
  • White leather belt by “St. Michael”, made in UK, late 1980s-1990s
  • White python leather handbag by “Carla Sade”, made in Spain, about 1990s
  • White leather Venetian loafers with mid-high heels, made in Spain, 2010s-2020s
  • (on some photos) Pink floral hand painted cloth sun umbrella (parasol) with bamboo handle, about 2000s

I tried to recreate the summer playful outfit of 1933-1934, although I only have a hat from that period.

But as I said in previous posts, many things from the same 1970-1980s may well help to fill the gap in the original clothing of the 1930s period.

So I think I've made it.
