Cool summer outfit in style of 1961 in cream & coral/pink colors with real vintage jacket & skirt
Style clothing from late 1950s to 1960s , as well as authentic vintage from this period, makes up a large part of my wardrobe.
My favorites are the whole
early half of the period, with some nice fashion examples from the later half
as well.
So, this time my outfit is the 1960s.
But as always, I took the liberty of doing a little research to find out something about the companies that made my things.
Because for me "just to wear" is not interesting. I love the
history of fashion and clothes. I like to feel the connection with the past
times.
So here's what I was able to find out.
I wear a vintage blouse from the French brand "Bhatti Paris".
This brand was founded in 1980 at Paris by Mehmood Bhatti, a Pakistani-born fashion
designer who still exists today.
My vintage skirt is from the German brand “Barco Sport Modell”.
The full name of this brand in the 1950s was "BARCO - SPORT Lehmann & Hertel" (Bremen, Admiral str. 21), and I found its earliest mention in an industrial directory from 1959 with a field of activity in "Herstellung und Vertrieb von Damenoberbekleidung".
Around the 1970s, Karin Hertel became the owner of the brand and therefore the brand was renamed "Barco - Sport, Karin Hertel GmbH" (Bremen, Straubinger str. 5).
I found a vague mention that
perhaps this brand still exists and its owner is still the same Karin Hertel.
I am wearing:
- Real vintage cream pure wool semi-cropped loose fit jacket with silk lining, mother-of-pearl big buttons and 7/8 sleeves, about late 1950s-early 1960s
- Real vintage coral cotton body and silk 7/8 sleeves with button down with frill blouse by “Bhatti Paris”, made in France, about late 1980s-1990s
- Real vintage cream pure wool midi cloche skirt with white leather stitched on fake belt by “Barco Sport Modell”, Bremen, made in Germany, about late 1960s-1970s
- (not seen) White cotton petticoat, about 1990s-2010s
- Artisanal hand painted pinkish with floral ornament pure silk square scarf, about 1990-2010s
- White python leather handbag by “Carla Sade”, made in Spain, about 1990s
- Cream cotton homemade knitted gloves, end of 2020
- White fishnet tights, about 1970s-1990s
- Cream leather mid heel shoes, made in Spain, 2020s
I found that a flared skirt pairs wonderfully with short loose jacket.
And best of all, this outfit is complemented not by a hat, no matter how much I love hats, but by a scarf tied around my head.
I got a classic look in the style of the very beginning of the 1960s, specifically 1961.
With dark hair,
the style of Jacqueline Kennedy and Audrey Hepburn now follow me relentlessly. However, I really like it.
