Cool/warm spring outfit in mixed style of 1960s & 1950s with leopard print & real vintage beanie hat by "PUB"

This unusual hat comes from the famous Swedish department store "PUB" (not related to the English drinking establishment!), but named after the initials of its founder, Paul U. Bergström. In this department store in 1917, the Russian revolutionary leader Vladimir Lenin bought a suit, and in 1920, the future Hollywood star Greta Garbo started working as a seller.

It can be said that Greta Garbo first became interested in cinema there, for while working at PUB, she starred in several commercials for a department store.

For example, one of the clips, lasting no more than 14 seconds, filmed in 1920, shows a fifteen-year-old Greta Gustafsson (Garbo) in the form of a fashion model who tries on and shows a coat (here you can see the video).

Unfortunately, department store "PUB" no longer exists.
It remains to wonder what path my hat has traveled before it came to me, from distant Stockholm to a vintage store in one of the sunny southern Spanish cities.

It's funny that I combined a Swedish hat with a dress from a more modern Finnish brand, because both of them are from the north, from Scandinavia and almost neighbors and both were bought by me in the same Spanish store!

I decided that combining a leopard print with a sleeveless lemon dress would be extraordinary and original. Moreover, I decided on an unheard-of impudence - to combine several "predatory" accessories at once - a hat, a pullover, a belt and a handbag. Although some argue that they should be in minimum.

Even though the dress is woolen, it is very thin and suitable for very warm weather. But since I combined it with an angora blend pullover and a jacket, the outfit will be good for both warm and warm-cool, changeable spring weather too. I wore it at the beginning of April.

I am wearing:
  • Real vintage cream pure wool semi-cropped loose fit jacket with silk lining, mother-of-pearl big buttons and 7/8 sleeve, about late 1950s-early 1960s
  • Real vintage leopard print lambswool/angora/nylon (little bit) blend pullover, made in Germany, about 1960s-1970s
  • Lemon pure wool sleeveless straight dress by “ril’s”, Helsinki, made in Finland, about late 1990s-2010s (not earlier then 1997)
  • Real vintage leopard fake fur cotton beanie hat with metal décor by "PUB" (Paul U. Bergström A.- B.), Stockholm, made in Sweden, about circa 1950s
  • Leopard print leather and pony belt with buckle with rhinestones by “River Island”, made in Holland, about late 1980s-1990s (not older than 1988)
  • Leopard print leather and pony handbag by “Betty Jackson Black” for the “Designers at Debenhams”, made in India, about or after 2005
  • Real vintage white peccary leather driving gloves, about late 1960s
  • Beige tights, about 2000s-2010s
  • Light beige leather lace up cream heel platform shoes, made in Portugal, 2010s-2020s

Of course, I understand that platform shoes are more suitable for either the 1940s or the late 1960s. But on the other hand, leopard print was popular even in the 18th century, as well as the entire 20th century, starting in the 1910s. But the real leopard rush began after the demonstration of Christian Dior's fashion collection called "The Jungle" in 1947.

Therefore, in the 1950s and 1960s, almost any clothing could be with a leopard pattern - from an evening dress to a swimsuit, various accessories with a similar pattern were also fashionable! Here it is worth remembering my hat from a Swedish department store, typical of the 1950s style. So the shoes - the late 1960s, and the leopard print - the 1950s-1960s, and the dress just above the knees - the second half of the 1960s, make my look a mixture of different years of the 1960s, combined with a hat, hair and make-up of the 1950s years.

I think my hair and makeup makes me look a little like Marilyn Monroe (moreover she loved similar straight dresses).

After all, why not? I love experimenting and sharing my experiments with you.
