Cool spring outfit in style of "New Look" with real vintage velvet skirt & egg shell hat

I have long wanted to combine this heavy velvet skirt with a velvet hat, as they match very well in color and texture.

But, unfortunately, they are suitable for different weather. The skirt is very warm, but the hat is cold. So in this outfit it will be good only in a cool autumn, not very warm winter and little bit cool spring, when there is no wind. I wore it in end of February. However, the skirt has the potential for lower temperatures. If it had been longer, it would have turned out to be the 19th century, and so there is something from the "New Look" in it, because, as known, Christian Dior was impressed precisely by the past centuries.

So the 19th century style jacket, in my opinion, suits skirt well, as kind of echo of the past in the fashion of the 1950s.

In addition, I associate this skirt with a bell flower or any other blue flower, which is also associated with Dior, because flowerlike-ladies were his ideal! Even though the skirt is very heavy and weighs several kilograms!..

And it also seems to me that fabric from heavy antique curtains went to the skirt, which recalls Scarlett O'Hara from "Gone with the wind" with her famous dress made from curtains... maybe an unknown seamstress was inspired by movie or book for tailoring. One can only guess whether it is so or not. And was the jacket paired with the skirt...

I am wearing:
  • Gray pure wool Victorian era like jacket with hook and eye closure, with stand-up collar, about 2000s
  • Blue cotton long sleeve turtleneck sweater, about 2010-2020s
  • Real vintage home-sewn blue heavy mohair velvet slightly gathered midi skirt, about 1960s-1970s, but fabric is much older (it is possible that these were heavy antique curtains!)
  • Real vintage blue silk velvet egg shell hat with ribbon decor, made in France, about 1950s
  • Bright blue hand-woven Tai silk square scarf with floral design, made in Thailand, about late 1990s-2000s
  • Blue leather belt, about 2000-2020s
  • Gray snakeskin handbag by “YoKaNa”, made in Thailand, about 2000-2020s
  • Light beige nylon tights, about 2010s-2020s
  • Leather black slip on shoes with mid-high heels, 2010s-2020s, made in Spain

I think that I got a "New Look" style outfit, but less ephemeral and magazine, but closer to the one that every simple girl could afford in everyday life in 1950s.
