Cold spring outfit in style of 1940s

Spring is on the calendar, but it is not felt every day on the street. Spain has a very strange climate. It can be warmer here in late December and February, but very cold in March and April. The weather may be warm and almost hot for several days in a row, but the next day it will start to get cold with an icy wind blowing from the snow-capped mountains.



Therefore, this outfit, which I wore in early April, can be worn in autumn, winter, and spring. It all depends on your cold tolerance and the weather. When the winds blow, my ears begin to hurt, and therefore the best headdress is a fur hat, covering the head as best as possible. And this thick wool jacket with wool pullover, wool blend shirt and thick wool skirt is perfect for inclement weather.

  • Real vintage striped brown-blue-white pure wool jacket with leather garment, with stand-up collar by vintage luxurious brand “Miss Antonette” by Franz Haushoffer, made in West Germany, about late 1970s-early 1980s (after 1975, but no newer then 1990)
  • (partly seen) Real vintage beige pure wool pullover with asymmetrical triangular neckline by “Rene W. May”, Paris, made in France, 1980s
  • (not seen) Real vintage light brown pinstriped wool/cotton blended shirt by “St Michael”, made in UK, about 1970s-1980s (but no newer then 2000)
  • Real vintage dark blue pure wool wrap midi-skirt by “Etienne Aigner”, made in America, about 1970s-1980s
  • Real vintage dark brown mink hat, about late 1940s-early 1950s
  • Real vintage brown wild crocodile belt, made in Germany, about 1950s
  • Real vintage dark blue leather shoulder bag, "El Corte Inglés", made in Spain, about 1970s
  • Dark blue leather gloves with leather ribbon decor, about 2010s
  • Real vintage brown tights with diagonal pattern with rectangle lines, about 1960s
  • Brown suede lace up oxford shoes by “Comarelli”, made in Spain, about 1990s-2000s










I think that despite the combination of clothes from different years of production, I got the image of the 1940s, it is quite possible that 1945 or towards the end of the 1940s. There is something strict and militarized in it!

This vintage dress is very beautiful.  I like the print of old and vintage fabrics.  Prints of recent years leaves a lot to be desired. They are faded, blurred and dotted in structure, in a word, "digital" printing.  Unfortunately, digital printing has completely destroyed any alternative and if you look at modern blouses, dresses, bags and other things, you will see that this is digital printing and that this print is very different even from the one that was back in the beginning of this century. Perhaps for someone it is the pearl of creation, but not for me. Before, the print was different - clear and bright, in my opinion, perfection itself. When I bought this dress in a vintage store, I was attracted by its bright fabric and beautiful cut.  Later at home I found out that it was also silk! With this outfit, I again show a hat of an unusual and extravagant shape by “J. Marti Marti, S. A. Barcelona.” Having more money, I guess, it is possible to learn something more about this company. As I'm a vintage enthusiast who doesn't make money from my research, to get extra money for a study is difficult for me. I also don't monetize my content while I got my 100 subscribers a long time ago. My reasoning is that if someones like my work and if they want me to take it much more seriously, as in the case of paid information about “J. Martí Martí”, then they will help me by “buying coffee” on the corresponding website. What did I manage to find about “J. Martí Martí” for free, so to speak, on my own? This fashion house (I guess it was a fashion house!), was founded by Don Jose Martí Martí in Barcelona around the time of the First World War. For some time it was listed as "Sucesores: Modas, S. A." Archive of 2022: Very hot autumn outfit in style of 1945 with real vintage pencil dress & bowler hat

I got really tired of the 1960s style outfits. But finally I got the 1940s.  It just so happened that I wore this dress for two photo shoots. Therefore, I had the opportunity to show how it can look different, but at the same time in the spirit of almost the same period. This time I'm demonstrating the first option.  This vintage dress in thick, colorful cotton can be from either the middle of 1940s or the middle of 1960s.  I decided to combine it with various vintage and not quite vintage jewelry that I bought over the years in different places (secondhand and vintage stores, flea markets and shops) and even in different countries. But the final touch was real vintage - handbag and horsehair / nylon bowler hat. But what is a bowler hat? It's funny, but this headdress was invented for foresters!
