Archive of 2022: Hot autumn outfit in style of late 1940s - early 1950s with combination of Spanish motifs & Dior's "New Look"

This time I'm showing a romantic outfit in the style of the late 1940s - early 1950s.

A gathered open neckline with “lowered” shoulders (especially in combination with a long skirt) always brings to mind the hot Spain and a fiery flower in pitch black hair of the legendary beauty Carmen, the heroine of the tragic opera of the same name written by the famous French composer, Georges Bizet.

After all, it was from there, that it came to the world of fashion, giving it a "Carmen" blouse and a dress with a "Carmen" bodice.

However, in fashion, as always, not everything is so clear or unambiguous, because some similar styles of blouses were often called "peasant" and were worn with alpine Dirndl skirts in folk style.

One way or another, but similar blouses came into fashion in the second half of the 1940s. There are many fashion photographs from 1947-1949 showing girls posing in similar blouses, which they call "peasant" blouses.

Probably the difference between the "peasant" blouse and the "Carmen" blouse lies in the features of their wearing.

As a rule, "peasant" ones were rarely worn with bare shoulders, but "Carmen" was worn this and other ways.

Although it was the Portuguese-born Brazilian singer, dancer, and later Hollywood actress Carmen Miranda (born María do Carmo Miranda da Cunha) who made them so trendy. And Portugal and Spain are not that far apart, are they?

As well as the national costumes of different parts of the world have common features!

So both the "peasant" blouse and the "Carmen" blouse are related to each other, like sisters.

I saw a blouse called "Carmen" in combination with a skirt similar to mine in a fashion magazine in the early 1950s.

My outfit, which I wear in the historical homeland of the famous, tragically sad, beauty Carmen, has a lot of true Spanish in it.

A puffy skirt, an off-the-shoulder blouse, an elegant bolero, a combination of black and red ... and also my black hair!

But the presence of a real vintage straw beret type half hat and Dior's New Look swing silhouette adds a touch of France to my Spanish look!

I am wearing:
  • (On most photos) Orange red stretch cotton bolero jacket with elbow length sleeves, about 2000s-2020s
  • (Partly seen on most photos) Silver gray silk/cotton blend “Carmen” or “peasant” blouse with short dropped lantern sleeves by “Perla Nero”, made in Italy, about 2000s-2010s
  • Real vintage grey/dark red/black cotton midi swing skirt by “Frawil” (exclusive Röcke & Hosen), made in Germany, about 1970s-1980s
  • (not seen) White cotton petticoat, about 1990s-2010s
  • (not seen) Black pure silk petticoat, about 2010s
  • Real vintage gray painted straw beret type half hat, about 1930s
  • Real vintage silver toned metal round drop clip-on earrings, about 1960s
  • Handmade dark red leather belt by “ReVolt”, Italian style by Remo Salvador, made in Italy, about 1990-2000s
  • Gray snakeskin handbag by “YoKaNa”, made in Thailand, about 2000-2020s
  • Leather black shoes with mid-high heels, 2010s-2020s, made in Spain

I think I got the outfit of a kind of Spanish fashionista of the late 1940s - early 1950s, who wanted to combine the national motifs of Spain with the style of Christian Dior.
