Warm spring outfit in style of early 1960s with real vintage suit - short jacket & A-line skirt
Unfortunately, I still have very few vintage suits in my collection. In general, as I have already noticed, it is very difficult to find a quality vintage suit. As a rule, things get lost over the years, and even if a jacket or coat was supposed to go with a dress or skirt, there is little chance of getting them in a complete set. This is why I consider this woolen suit to be my pearl, because it represents the typical early 1960s, when the A-line skirts were still a little below the knees, and the jackets were short and fitted. By the way, it has its own belt, from the same time, although it is made of vinyl.
I love that the suit is bright and has red lining and brown buttons. This
allows you to combine it, depending on the mood, with both red and brown
accessories, as in this look.
Also, the presence of a yellow strip does not exclude the possibility, to combine it with yellow!
The costume is sewn professionally and it is a pity
that the atelier or seamstress who sewed it has remained unknown.
I love that the vintage tights and the silk blouse are in tune with each
other - in color and print.
This outfit is suitable for cool autumn, warm winter and warm spring. I
wore it in the second half of February.
Regarding the Italian brand "Jois & Jo" (my silk blouse), I
have not been able to find out much. Now it is a small boutique in the Italian
town of Altamura. I don’t know how it is now, but earlier it, apparently, was
more famous, and the peak of "Jois & Jo" heyday came in the
second half of the 1990s, when in the spring/summer of 1996-1997 its
“Ready-to-wear” outfits were demonstrated by the Argentinean fashion model
Valeria Mazza for "Italian Vogue", and at the parade that ended the
three-day Italian fashion fair in Beijing.
It is noteworthy that back in the 1990s, clothes for Italian firms were
made in Italy, for French firms in France, for German firms in Germany, etc.,
or at least in Europe, and not in China, as it is now, for rare exceptions.
This is another reason why I am in love with vintage and even close to vintage
fashion. It's so nice to wear clothes whose brand and country of manufacture
match. It is immediately clear that these clothes are really designed to be
worn in Europe, that they are designed for local climate features, contain a
piece of local history and traditions, and also that they are durable and not
“fast fashion”. When China made its own traditional things and clothes from
traditional materials, they were also durable and of good quality, but now
everything has changed and, unfortunately, not for the better.
I am wearing:
- Real vintage orange with brown and yellow checker pure wool suit with leather buttons – long sleeve short jacket with notched collar and just below the knee length button-down A-line skirt, about early 1960s
- Brown/light orange giraffe print silk long sleeve button down blouse by “Jois & Jo”, made in Italy, about 1990s
- Real vintage brown wool felt cloche hat with velvet and silk ribbon and metal button décor, about 1970-1980s
- Real vintage brown vinyl leather belt, about 1960s
- Real vintage brown leather handbag, about 1950s
- Real vintage brown tights with orange geometric pattern, about 1960s
- Brown suede lace up oxford shoes by “Comarelli”, made in Spain, about 1990s-2000s
I got a bright and cheerful look of a girl from the early 1960s, around 1962, with playful tights from the second half of the same decade.
