Warm spring outfit in style of 1950s in the spirit of the 1930s with real vintage fitted jacket & sheath skirt
I love green, to say the least. This color goes well with my green eyes, calms me down and I associate with fresh spring greenery. But, unfortunately, in my wardrobe there are not so many things of this color. And until the end of last year, I generally had a dominance of black clothes, which weighed me down a lot. Black jackets, black skirts, black pullovers, black hats, black dresses, black gloves, black shoes...
Black is good, but always in combination with another color. It shouldn't be in excess.
I believe that no matter what time of the year it is on the street - spring, summer, autumn or winter, you always need to be able to be bright. Although some people for some reason believe that in the cool season you need to dress in dark colors. But for what? There are already few bright colors on the street!
Of course, the midi skirt of my present outfit is good, although it is black. But it looks better accompanied by my favorite - a green tint of the jacket. In addition, the black buttons of the jacket match perfectly with skirt. The combination of green and black is a bit in the spirit of the American designer of the 1960s Chester Weinberg (like a suit from his autumn 1966 collection).
I loved this jacket, when I saw it in a vintage store. I knew it had to be mine. It could be said, I've been looking for it all my life. Because it is the true epitome of vintage fashion. Made impeccably, must have been sewn in an expensive studio. Its buttons alone are a work of art made by hand.
I am not a fan of trilby hats, but when I saw this green trilby for sale in secondhand, I could not resist, because the green color works wonders. Although I will not hide that any bright and not black color would do the same!
And I literally fished out this wonderful green fur also presented in this my outfit. I saved it from a pile of rubbish, and it cost me a ridiculous price.
This outfit is good for a little bit cool spring with jacket and fur around neck, for warm spring with jacket and fur around collar, for very warm without them both or with fur like decorative element only.
I am wearing:
- Real vintage green pure wool long sleeve fitted jacket with big black buttons, about 1950s
- Green rayon/cotton blend long sleeve turtleneck sweater, about 1990s-2000s
- Real vintage black pure wool midi high waist sheath skirt by “Coordinats Anaïs Barcelona”, made in Spain, about 1950s
- Green wool felt trilby hat with black belt décor by “Seeberger”, made in Germany about 2000-2010s
- Green rabbit fur neckpiece, about 2000s-2010s
- Black leather bag with big silver colored chain, made in Italy, about 1990s-2010s
- Light beige nylon tights, about 2010s-2020s
- Leather black slip on shoes with mid-high heels, made in Spain, 2010s-2020s
I think that I got look a little 1930s (straight fitted silhouette, men hat, furs...) or 1950s (after all, a narrow sheath skirt is more typical of the "New Look" style) in the style of the 1930s.
After all, fashion is cyclical and someone in the 1950s could well dress in the spirit of 20 years ago. I remember that in one of the issues of "The Australian Women's Weekly" of the late 1940s, I saw a dress in the spirit of the 1920s, certainly more like the late 1940s only stylized as the 1920s.
I pair 1950s in style of 1930s with à la Grace Kelly nude make-up that breaks stereotypes of the bright red lipstick allegedly only popular at the time.
