Warm spring outfit in mixed style of 1950s & 1930s with real vintage little flower hat from Paderborn
Someday Germany used to make not only traditional hunting hats, but also ladies' fashion hats just as well as France did, as in the case of my latest purchase, this very vintage lovely little hat from the German city of Paderborn.
I like its sunny color and I like these tiny flowers. It has something of the grace and elegance of the 19th century. But in general, this is a typical end of the 1930s, when hats with flowers were fashionable.
For some reason, it is believed that hats with flowers were fashionable only in 1950 and 1960. But this is not so. Flowers on hats never went out of fashion, and in the late 1930s they were worn with might and main.
I'm wearing a vintage dress from the French brand "Blue Marine Design Paris", with the company logo - a funny old car embroidered on the pocket.
This dress looks like a typical 1950s, so it was strange to find out that it is not younger than the 1970s, since "Blue Marine Design Paris" was founded only in 1972. But in any case, it's nice that my dress belongs to the beginning of the existence of the brand, which is still there today.
Once, in the 1970-1990s, “Blue Marine Design Paris” was popular and famous, it was mentioned by newspapers, magazines and other periodicals of those years dedicated to fashion and textiles, including “Officiel de la couture et de la mode de Paris".
The name of the company was given by the color "Blue Marine", which was originally their calling card along with an embroidered car. My dress is in “Blue Marine Design Paris” signature color.
This outfit is ideal for warm weather. I wore it in the beginning of April.
I am wearing:
- Real vintage navy (“blue marine”) wool/angora blend midi fitted straight dress with long knitted sleeves, stand-up collar and big wooden button by “Blue Marine Design Paris”, made in France, about 1970s (not older than 1972)
- Real vintage yellow pure wool felt hat with multicolored silk flowers by “Geschw. Rüttmann Paderborn”, made in Germany, about 1930-1950s
- Real vintage dark blue leather belt, about 1970s-1980s
- Real vintage yellow snakeskin handbag by “R”, about 1960-1970s
- Dark blue leather gloves with leather ribbon décor, about 2010s
- Real vintage yellow tights, about late 1960s
- Dark blue suede lace up oxford brogues shoes by “El Ganso”, made in Spain, about 2000 (but not earlier then 2002)–2020s
The cut and length of the dress is typical of the second half of the 1950s, more precisely around 1956, and the hat is from the late 1930s. However, it is likely that hats of a similar style could be worn in the 1950s. In this way, I got a strict and at the same time playful look of the 1930s and 1950s, combining dark blue/navy and bright yellow colors.
